I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and raised in Texas, and I enjoy the exploration of peace. I have spent twenty-five of my working years in the Veterinary industry. My career began as a dog bather in Dallas and progressed through training to a veterinary technician. In 1997, I moved to England where I spent eight years as a local traveler and wife. I became a mother in 2001. I returned to Texas with my son to dissolve my marriage. I remained friends with my ex-husband and together we raised our son through traveling to and from England for 10 years. Those ten years also included an opportunity to move into human resources. I take care of the staff of the veterinary hospital I continue to work in.
Despite life being good on the whole, I felt an emptiness in my heart. On September 28, 2013, my entire world changed with an aggressive Stage III breast cancer diagnosis. Suddenly, everything I had feared in the past, had become real. The storm came next, the storm of blood tests, specialists, exams, CT scans, and a plan…….a plan I did not want. The big plan began with a surgical procedure to have a central port placed for chemotherapy infusion. I spent the next 6 months watching a chemo the nursing staff refer to as “the red devil,” enter my veins on a weekly basis. I couldn’t cry anymore. I was beyond drained, my soul devastated.
During a time period when I experienced what I can only describe as unimaginable bone agony, the sun came out. Many people reached out to me with love and healing words. Laying down to die was no longer an option. If all these people could open their arms to me, why couldn’t I do the same for them and others?
As I healed, I began to paint on canvas. I painted to give back to those who had stepped forward for me. My wish is for people to receive love and healing through my paintings. We all have the ability to reach inner peace.
If you find yourself saying you don’t need it….do not blink, because one day you will need it, and you will seek it. Letting light shine down on us through healing helps us to know peace is always possible.
I am now cancer free and I hope to help anyone that faces challenges that appear impossible to overcome. Every moment is a chance to open our eyes and truly see what is there, the peace within us.
